Chemical Peels
What are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that involve applying a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the top layers to exfoliate and eventually peel off. This process reveals the newer, smoother, and more evenly toned skin underneath. Chemical peels can address a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture.
At Leila Med Spa, we offer a range of chemical peels with varying strengths and ingredients to address different skin concerns and accommodate different skin types. Our expert practitioners will help you select the most appropriate peel based on your skin's needs and your desired results.
Our Chemical Peel Treatments
Superficial Peels
Our superficial peels use mild acids such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) like glycolic acid or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) like salicylic acid to gently exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin. These peels are ideal for addressing minor skin concerns such as dullness, mild discoloration, and rough texture. They require little to no downtime and can be performed regularly as part of your skincare routine.
Medium-Depth Peels
Our medium-depth peels use trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or a combination of acids to penetrate the middle and outer layers of the skin. These peels are effective for treating moderate skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. Medium-depth peels typically require some downtime for healing, but they provide more dramatic results than superficial peels.
Deep Peels
Our deep peels use phenol or high-concentration TCA to penetrate the middle layer of the skin deeply. These peels are reserved for treating more severe skin concerns such as deep wrinkles, significant sun damage, and pronounced hyperpigmentation. Deep peels provide the most dramatic results but require significant downtime for healing and are typically performed only once.
Specialized Peels
We also offer specialized peels designed to address specific skin concerns. These include peels formulated for acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, aging skin, and hyperpigmentation. Our specialized peels combine different acids and active ingredients to provide targeted treatment for your unique skin concerns.
What to Expect
Before your chemical peel, our practitioner will thoroughly cleanse your skin and may apply a pre-treatment solution to ensure even penetration of the peel. The chemical solution is then applied to your skin using a brush, cotton pad, or sponge. You may feel a warming or tingling sensation during the application, which is normal and indicates that the peel is working.
The peel is left on your skin for a specific amount of time, depending on the type of peel and your skin's needs. After the appropriate time has elapsed, the peel is neutralized or removed, and a soothing mask or cream is applied to calm the skin.
After your chemical peel, your skin may be red and sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Depending on the depth of the peel, you may experience peeling or flaking of the skin in the days following the treatment. It's crucial to follow the post-treatment care instructions provided by your practitioner, which typically include avoiding sun exposure, using gentle skincare products, and applying sunscreen daily.
