What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® Aesthetic is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that helps gradually replace lost collagen—the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cells and tissue—for results that can last up to two years.

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that provide immediate volume, Sculptra® works differently. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates collagen production. This gradual approach provides subtle, natural-looking results that improve over time.

How Sculptra® Works

Sculptra® works with your body to stimulate your own natural collagen production. When injected into the deep dermis, Sculptra® helps revitalize collagen production, helping to reinforce the skin's inner structure and increase facial volume that has been lost to aging.

As the poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) microparticles in Sculptra® are gradually absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. Rebuilt collagen strands begin to gradually restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds.

The treatment typically involves a series of injections over a period of a few months. On average, three treatment sessions over a period of a few months may be needed to achieve the desired results. Because Sculptra® targets the underlying causes of facial aging, it can provide subtle, natural-looking results that improve over time and can last up to two years.

What to Expect

During your consultation, our expert practitioners will assess your facial anatomy and discuss your aesthetic goals to determine if Sculptra® is right for you. Before the treatment, we may apply a topical numbing cream to minimize discomfort.

The actual Sculptra® procedure takes about 30-45 minutes. A series of injections will be administered to the targeted areas of your face. Most patients require 3 treatment sessions over a period of a few months to achieve optimal results.

After each treatment session, you may experience swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection sites. These side effects are typically mild and resolve within a few days. To help ensure optimal results, we recommend following the "rule of fives" after each treatment: massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.

Results appear gradually over a period of a few months as your body produces new collagen. The full effects of Sculptra® are typically visible after the final treatment session, and results can last up to two years.
